 SBBC is currently working with El Segundo, Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach and Torrance to formally adopt a resolution committing staff time and City support to the South Bay Bike Master Plan initiative. The resolutions committing City support are expected to be on the City Council agendas in each City later in the month of September. Check back soon for more updates!
The South Bay Bicycle Master Plan is a collaboration between Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, South Bay Bicycle Coaltion and the City of Redondo Beach. The initiative is funded by a Department of Public Health grant and will provide the planning efforts for a regional bike master plan over the next two years. SBBC, Beach Cities Cycling and Hermosa Cyclery Team Up for Fiesta Hermosa's Bike Valet
This Labor Day weekend, the areas foremost cycling entities will once again come together to provide free parking for thousands of bikes at Fiesta Hermosa. Read more about the event in The Beach Reporter.
Bike valet programs are popping up all around LA County and have been successful in alleviating parking and promoting cycling as a convenient form of transportation. The South Bay Bicycle Coalition endeavors to continue growing their bike valet opportunities in the South Bay region.
 Bike to Work Week - Great Success and Great Fun! The South Bay Bike to Work Challenge started out rainy - an unexpected challenge for southern California riders. But by the end of the week, we were back to prime riding weather. The riders we talked to had a great time - some even riding through the Ballona Wetlands to see the mustard flowers in bloom! We hope to see even more riders next year!

We Got the Grant to Transform the South Bay!
After months of hard work by a small, dedicated squad of South Bay Bicycle Coalition volunteers and a nimble and responsive team of elected officials on Friday morning, March 19 in downtown Los Angeles we got the great news that we've been awarded a $240,000 federal stimulus grant to fund creation of a Master Bicycle Plan for participating cities in the South Bay! The grant money is federal CDC funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the grant is administered and awarded through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
